Open casting calls to find “The Next Food Network Star” are planned in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Seattle and Minneapolis.

Back for a fourth season, this will be the first time the reality show’s producers will select aspiring chefs from open auditions to compete for the opportunity to win his or her own “Food Network” series.

“Season Three of ‘The Next Food Network Star’ performed beyond our wildest expectations and we are thrilled to extend this exciting franchise into a fourth season,” Bob Tuschman, the network’s senior vice president of programming said in a statement. “As always, we are looking for people who have strong culinary knowledge and vibrant personalities who can pass along their passion for cooking to our viewers.”

Applicants have until October 12 to send in a 3-minute audition tape explaining why they think they should be the next Food Network star – or apply in person at the open auditions.
