It’s finally happened: Jennifer Love Hewitt is engaged. I say finally not because of her age–29–but because I’ve always gotten the feeling this girl was looking to get married since she was 18. There’s just something about her that gives off a ’50′s-esque “I went to college for my M R S degree” vibe. I could be wrong (doubtful), it’s just a hunch.

So, she can relax now, because her boyfriend of 2 years, Ross McCall, finally proposed. Her rep confirmed they got engaged a week ago and, per the above photo, are now romping around in the surf in Hawaii. The rep had to add in that Love’s engagement ring is some McCall family heirloom that’s been in the family 100 years. Oh my god, she got a hand-me-down!

Seriously, congratulations to Jennifer. I always thought she should have been on Tom Cruise‘s “I need me a wife” list from a few years back. She may not be the best actress, but she always has a lot of enthusiasm. You know she would’ve been right up there on that couch with Maverick, whooping it up and giggling.
