Jay-Z’s Nightclub Sued by Former Waitress
A former waitress is suing hip-hop mogul Jay-Z and his New York nightclub 40/40 for failing to pay overtime and the minimum wage.
The New York Post said Celeste Williams’ case led to a class-action suit filed on behalf of some the club’s other former and current staff.
A Manhattan judge recently ordered the hot spot’s management to disclose the names of all of its employees during the last three years. Williams’ attorney, Maimon Kirschenbaum told the Post:
“This is a good day for restaurant workers all over the city.”.
Kirschenbaum said he will try to reach out to hundreds of other club workers to see whether they want to join the suit, which already includes between 10 and 20 past and present 40/40 bartenders, waiters and other staff.
The newspaper said a 40/40 spokesman did not return a call seeking comment for its story.
