‘Liz & Dick’ actress Lindsay Lohan has been formally charged after allegedly lying to police following a car accident on the Pacific Coast Highway near Los Angeles in June.

The ‘Liz & Dick’ actress was involved in a crash on the Pacific Coast Highway near Los Angeles earlier this year and has now officially been charged after she told officers she was a passenger in the car involved, when she is believed to have been driving.

This comes just hours after Lindsay was arrested for hitting a woman in a club in New York, after she allegedly became upset when Max George from The Wanted started chatting up the other woman, according to TMZ.

Now, in order to escape a significant jail term for these transgressions, Lindsay’s team are encouraging her to check into rehab for six months.

A source told RadarOnline: “Lindsay’s manager and agent have been telling her for months that she must go to rehab to save her life. Until now she has resisted, but after her arrest this morning she sees she needs help.

“It’s very likely that Lindsay will throw herself at the mercy of the court and hopes to avoid jail time by going to rehab for at least six months.”
