Who says Bollywood fame does not extend outside India? Well, it even invaded Madame Tussauds in Washington DC. Some of the popular Bollywood stars have been featured in this famous wax museum. Want to know who these personalities are?
Shahrukh Khan. Referred informally as SRK, Shahrukh is also known popularly as the ‘King of Bollywood’. He has appeared in seventy-five Hindi movies in various genres from action, thriller all the way to romance. SRK is regarded as one of the biggest movie stars in the history of Indian cinema with fans amounting to billions. In 2008, Newsweek termed him as one among the ‘world’s fifty most powerful people’. Three years later, the Los Angeles Times labeled him as ‘the biggest movie star in the world’.
Aishwarya Rai. This Bollywood star used to earn a living as a model before she ventured into the world of acting. She appeared in various films in different languages which include English, Tamil. Hindi, Bengali and Telugu. She is often referred to as the ‘world’s most beautiful woman’ by the press and was selected as the 2012 UNAIDS goodwill ambassador.
Hrithik Roshan. His accomplishments as an award-winning actor helped established himself as one among the leading actors of his time. His performances in the films Guzaarish, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and Agneepath earned him further commendation as an actor. He was the fifth Bollywood actor who was replicated in wax at Madame Tussauds.
Kareena Kapoor. This Bollywood star has been acknowledged for her outstanding performances in various film genres. Kareena stepped into the limelight at an early age. However, it was only until 2000 that she made her acting debut in J. P. Dutta’s film Refugee. One of her biggest success is the 2001 melodramatic movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… , which also turned out as India’s 2001 highest grosser in the overseas market. She is popularly known for her being straightforward and assertive and is noted as well for her contributions to the cinema industry.
Amitabh Bachchan. He first gained recognition in the early 70s as Bollywood’s ‘angry young man’, and has since acted in more than 180 films in over four decades of acting career. He is considered the most-nominated actor in whatever acting category in Filmfare with a total of thirty-seven nominations and has garnered several major awards – 14 Filmfare awards and 3 from National Film Awards.
