Late for Class
Tommy was a cleaver 8 year old boy, who started attending a new elementary school. However, he just could not seem to get to class on time. Every day Tommy was 10 or 15 minutes late to class. However, he was a brilliant student and very clever, so the teacher was in a quandary about how to handle the situation. Finally, one day Tommy’s teacher confronted him about his daily tardiness.

“Tommy, I want you to know that I like you and I think you are a good student, but you’re being late to class every day concerns me,” said the teacher.

“I know I’m late sometimes, and I promise to try to get here earlier teacher,” replied Tommy.

“I’m happy to hear that Tommy, it’s odd though, you’re always coming in late to class every day. I know you were an exceptional student in your last school, what would your teacher say if you arrived to class late there?”

“My teacher would say, ‘Good morning, son’.”

Skipping Meals

Mary’s parents were very concerned about her health, at 12 years of age, she weighed 57 kilo-grams. So, Mary’s parents brought her to their family doctor. The doctor told her parents that she needed to go on a strict diet.

The doctor instructed Mary “I want you to eat what you normally eat every two days, and then I want you to skip a day. Repeat this routine for two weeks. I expect that the next time I see you in my office, you’ll have lost at least two or three kilos.”

The doctor asked Mary “Do you have any questions?”
“No, I don’t have any questions.” Mary said.

Mary and her parents thanked the doctor and returned home. After two weeks’ time, Mary returned to the doctor’s office. The doctor was shocked when he greeted Mary and her parents. The doctor was very impressed because Mary looked much thinner than her last visit. And when he weighed her, the doctor noticed that she had lost seven kilo-grams.

“You certainly seem to have followed my instructions perfectly,” said the doctor.
Mary nodded quietly and said “It was very difficult to follow your instructions; I thought I was going to die the first week.”

“Really, why did you feel like you were going to die, because you were hungry?” asked the doctor.

“No sir, from all the skipping,” said Mary.
