No, nothing shady going on there–just some good old, vacation-time fun! That’s right: Brit Brit and Mel–along with her father and his wife–have gone on holiday together. The foursome are heading to Costa Rica, where they’ll stay at Gibson’s house for a few days. I bet it’s a great house. I’m sure the bar is well-stocked. What?

The two have apparently been pals for a little while, with the first sighting of them taking place back in March, when they had dinner together at a Russian restaurant in Studio City. At the time a source told People magazine that they had met up a few times since Brit’s February “issues.”

“Mel and his wife Robin clearly saw a woman in crisis and wanted to extend themselves in any way possible.”

They also used to be neighbors when Britney was living in Malibu and the source said there’s no agenda behind the friendship, just “one neighbor reaching out to another.”

Well, that’s just great. My neighbor keeps me awake at 3 a.m. with his guitar playing, while Brit’s neighbor takes her to Costa Rica.

“She was better than the first time and I think the fans will enjoy it because her return answers a larger mystery set up earlier in the series. So there’s a good plot reason why she’s there. And when people watch Britney’s second appearance on the show they’ll see that the door is still open for her to come back.”

Translation: If the ratings for tonight’s show are as good as they were for her first appearance, you can bet the ranch that, come September, Brit Brit will be signed up for more appearances. Hey, at least it’s keeping her out of trouble.

For those who just can’t wait for tonight, here’s a little something to tide you over.

First up, allowance. People magazine reports that an L.A. court approved Brit for a $1,500 a week allowance on a debit card. Really? They want to give her that much? I’m sure she could get herself into all kinds of trouble with that money. Hell, that’s good for at least several gas station and Rite-Aid runs.

The courts also ok’d two specialist lawyers to be hired to help make sense of her screwed up business affairs. One is going to be on-call 24/7 to help answer questions about the conservatorship and the other is an entertainment lawyer to consult on all Brit’s entertainment deals. Oh, and the courts are also deciding whether K-Fed should have to take responsibility for some of his own lawyer’s bills. He should totally argue the case of “why should I pay? She’s the crazy one who keeps making us come back to court!” That bit of legal advice is on the house, Pudgy.

And, finally, lo and behold, Britney’s coming back to television. That’s right, set those DVRs: she’s going to be guest-starring on an upcoming episode of “How I Met Your Mother”–a show I don’t watch, but may have to tune into just to see if she’s improved any since her 2006 appearance on “Will and Grace.” For those who didn’t have the, er, pleasure, I guess, take a peek.

Right. You know there’s going to be lots of nasty Britney stories in there. Which is a brilliant move considering Lynne and Brit just recently reconciled after Brit thought Lynne was siding with K-Fed against her and supposedly forcing her into rehab. I’m sure daughter is thrilled that mommy is going to be spilling to the world. Well, that is if Brit is even capable of that much of a thought process.

Authorities arrested Winehouse and her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, and a member of their touring party after they found .25 ounces of pot in their hotel room. She should’ve hidden that shit in her hair–no one would ever find it there. Funny, too, that the other dude who was arrested, Alexander Foden, is her wig maker.

The three spent 12 hours in holding cells before paying fines of 500 euro (Winehouse & Fielder-Civil) and 350 euro (Foden).

The reason the cops were even looking for her stash is because they were acting on a tip “from a good source.” Which I guess would be anyone with two eyes and a pulse. Man, this chick makes Britney look almost stable. Almost.

The action reads:

“Petitioner’s (Britney’s) visitation with the minor children is suspended pending Petitioner’s compliance with the court orders.”

Ah, yes, the court orders. You know, those pesky things she was supposed to do so she could have time with her boo-boos. I guess those parenting classes conflicted with her Taco Bell/Starbucks schedule.

Moron.

The next scheduled hearing is October 26th. Until then, Brit’s free to roam the greater L.A. area in search of the perfect value meal free of diapered responsibilities.

“At around 9:25 this evening, Ms. Spears turned herself in to the Van Nuys Jail for booking. This was by court order, which is common for a misdemeanor charge.”

People reports she was wearing a short black dress and carrying a white purse. No word on the state, or lack thereof, of any underwear. She was fingerprinted, photographed and released an hour later. She didn’t even have to so much as sit in a holding cell–which probably would have caused some kind of meltdown.

So, let’s see: in at 9:30, out by 10:30…perfect! She could still hit the Taco Bell drive-thru before closing.

But, yes, a “respectful” Britney got a judge to allow her one overnight visitation a week with the kids–who are probably already crying at the prospect. Her lawyers had argued that being away from Brit Brit was doing the boys psychological harm. Funny, I think it’s just the opposite.

And does her attorney think that, too? She told the courts that the court-appointed monitor is willing to stay to supervise the overnight visits and possibly even Britney’s mother. Yeah, no one thinks she can handle those kids. Can’t imagine why.
