David Beckham was never into clubbing.

The soccer star – who is father to four children, Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, Cruz, seven, and 21-month-old Harper with Victoria Beckham – has insisted he was more into music and his profession than partying while playing for Manchester United before met his wife.

He explained to Man About Town magazine: “It was incredible in Manchester back then. It was the time of the Haçienda club – there were so many great things happening there at that time.

“I wasn’t a clubby person. I haven’t been a big clubby person my whole life, you know, even at a very young age, which I think has helped me throughout my career. I’ve nothing against going out and having a good time, but I think, for me it was all about Manchester United… and, of course, The Stone Roses. Apart from the music, all I was interested in was playing for Manchester United. It was all I wanted in my life.”

The 38-year-old hunk recently revealed how proud he is of his sons’ “impeccable manners”.

However, in a bid to make up for missed time, David has organized flights for their entire family – including in-laws – to go out to the French capital, where he can finally spend some alone time with his wife.

A source told The Mirror newspaper: “David was on duty with his club Paris St Germain so couldn’t be with Victoria yesterday, the day of her actual 39th.

“Obviously, they spoke lots and he’d arranged a series of small gifts, including flowers, to be with her on the day, courtesy of the kids.

“But his main present is flights for the whole family, including the grandparents, to join him in the French capital.

“He and Victoria have hardly spent any time together of late and so David’s saying he’s going to spoil her rotten and make up for lost time.”

Part of the reason why David, 37, invited their extended family is to have babysitters for their kids while he whisks Victoria away for a romantic night together.

The source added: “The grandparents are on babysitting duty, meaning David has a whole day and night alone with wife.

“He’s booked a five-star hotel and will pull out all the stops.”

Victoria’s former Spice Girls bandmates – Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton – all contacted their friend on her special day and the mother-of-four thanked followers on her Twitter for their birthday wishes.

The couple are now househunting in London after finding a £15,000-a-year establishment in the UK capital for sons Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, and Cruz, seven, and will make the move from Los Angeles in the summer.

A source close to the couple told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “For David and Victoria, the children come first. They have spent months researching schools and after visiting a few earlier this month, have found one they agree on.

“It’s an independent school and will not be fazed by having celebrity children on its books. Both David and Victoria’s families are all delighted too as a return to London means they will see so much more of the children.”

The move comes after David, 37, announced his intention to leave his current soccer team Los Angeles Galaxy.

However, despite opting to be based in London with his fashion designer wife, the hunky sportsman may look further afield for his new club, with him believed to favour a move to play for French side Paris Saint-Germain.

He is also weighing up options to play in Brazil or China on a lucrative contract.

“It will be a business thing but owning a restaurant is going to be fun as well.”

David and his wife Victoria – who have children, Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, Cruz, seven, and 16-month old Harper together – are close friends with Gordon, 46, and his wife Tana, 37, and the families regularly meet up for vacations and dinner dates.

David said: “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve always loved cooking. I’d love to cook for Gordon and I definitely will one day.”

David is to play his final match for Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday (01.12.12) and it is believed he and Victoria, 38, are keen to come back to England.

The former Spice Girl has been house-hunting in London and the restaurant plan is thought to be another sign the family are looking to permanently relocate to the UK from the US.

Referring to the end of his American adventure earlier this week, he said: “I do think I’ll be spending more time in England.”

The source added: “David has been really missing London and the UK recently. The royal wedding, the Olympics and now Christmas coming up have all made him long for the UK.

“He talks about being in London a lot and he misses his family, so it would make perfect sense for the family to all move back to Britain.”

David – who also has a 16-month-old daughter Harper with his ex-Spice Girl wife – will finish his career LA Galaxy following the Major League Soccer cup final match between his team and the Houston Dynamo on Saturday (01.12.12).

A source recently said: “London would suit Victoria because that is where her design studio is and, as a family, they love the energy there. But it would be a big move and lifestyle change for the children and David and Victoria aren’t sure they’re ready to make that sacrifice.

“Ultimately, David has to decide what he wants for his future and how that affects his family.”

David Beckham is being inundated with offers to host his own talk show.

The 37-year-old footballer – whose rolling one year contract with Los Angeles Galaxy is up for renewal in December – has reportedly been offered the chance to front his own sports show by Time Warner Cable.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “We want David on board whether or not he continues to play for the Galaxy. We are on our way to becoming the world’s biggest sportscaster and he is a key part of our future.”

The insider said that the US-based company has offered the midfielder a “multi-million” contract and is “desperate” to secure the father-of-four to host a twice-weekly show on its new sports network.

The proposed format would see David interview his fellow athletes, discuss tactics and give him “free reign” to cover any sports of his choice.

But rivals FOX are said to be hashing out a massive counter offer in a desperate bid to lure the successful British star to its network and he is considering his options after being advised to cash-in on his celebrity status.

David and his 38-year-old wife Victoria are currently settled in Los Angeles with their children – Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, seven-year-old Cruz, and 15-month-old daughter Harper – but are also said to be considering a move to New York so she can concentrate on her fashion line.

A source said: “Everything is up for discussion at the moment. David may well choose to stay at his team LA Galaxy, or he may leave and retire from football. There are big conversations to be had.

“Victoria is keen to move to New York to set up her business there and open her first store. She looked at a school while she was there. There are also business opportunities for David, too.”

The sportsman has recently started hiding when he takes his kids Romeo, 10 and seven-year-old Cruz to their soccer games in Los Angeles because the under-10 girls team and their mothers accost him for pictures and autographs every time.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “David takes Romeo and Cruz to football in Los Angeles at the same club where the under-10 girls team play.

“The girls and their mums jump on him, wanting hugs, autographs, photos.

“One cheeky little girl even asked for his T-shirt off his back.

While David is uncomfortable with the attention, his wife Victoria – with whom he also has son Brooklyn, 13 and daughter Harper, 14 months – isn’t jealous and finds it funny.

The insider added: “It’s all too much for him, although Victoria finds it hilarious.”

They are not the only people to find David attractive, comedian Russell Brand recently revealed he thinks the soccer star is a “god”.

He said: “David Beckham is a god. Just look at him in those underwear ads. I’m not gay but I would eat food off his body. Preferably something that needs to be mopped up, like egg. I’d eat it off his stomach.”
